ABOUT IAN MACK
Ian Mack was born in England and studied painting in London.
His early work was figurative representational realism with an emphasis on the flattening of space and the removal of traditional perspective. While living in Mexico, he discovered the vibrancy and emotional power of color.
His work is driven by color. Now purely abstract, the paintings (while sometimes quite large) reference very small details of his surroundings.
In 1981 he moved permanently to the United States, spending twelve years in Colorado before moving to the east coast. He has lived and worked in New York since 1994.
